Pre-Employment Requirements

Before being hired by HCDSN, you must provide:

  • References
  • High School diploma/GED or official high school or college transcripts

You must also successfully pass:

  • A driver's license check - ten-year driving record
  • Two-step TB test
  • Physical examination
  • Medical questionnaire
  • SLED report
  • DSS Central Registry check
  • A week-long training class

Please notice that there are costs associated with some of these items, which must initially be borne by the applicant. There is provision for some reimbursement after one year of full-time employment or 960 hours of part-time employment.

The required training is intended to provide basic skills for all new HCDSN employees. The learner will gain the essential skills and knowledge required to be able to teach, demonstrate and supervise our consumers. It is offered the second full week of every month at no cost to the applicant, however it must be successfully passed beore an applicant can be offered employment. This is a non-paid week as the applicant is not, at this time, a HCDSN employee.

The applicant must pass the medical and legal screenings before being eliglble for the training program.
