HCDSN Early Intervention

Early Intervention is a program that provides services to infants and toddlers (birth to three years of age) who have developmental delays and diagnosed disabilities. Children who meet eligibility criteria are served regardless of family income or nationality.

Child with motherEarly Interventionists serve two roles.

  • Following the development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), an Early Interventionist provides special instruction, which is designed to assist in helping a child achieve developmental milestones and move toward his or her fullest potential. This instruction is conducted with parental participation and in the child's natural environment.
  • Early Interventionists also coordinate other services a child may need and help to locate community resources (i.e. physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.).
