Thank you to Steve Avinger and Cindy Walker for coming to the meeting on January 16th. We feasted on our favorite BoJangles. I had forgotten the promised chili. That will be the main dish for February.
Congratulations to Cindy on her re-entry into the academic world. We wish her loads of luck. Unfortunately, it will mean that Cindy will miss most of our meetings and will not have the time to make reminder calls. Jessica Avinger has volunteered to make the calls. Thank you, Jessica!
Our meeting was really interesting. We talked a lot about politics. So many philosophies, so little time. I especially like the fact that it was very congenial.
Steve and Jessica has invited us to their home for the annual SCI Peer Support picnic and boat ride in May! The date is May 21st, early afternoon. We have set rain dates of the 22nd and the 23rd just in case. We will meet in early afternoon to grill and chill. Then take a boat ride up and down the lovely Waccamaw River. Steve’s boat ramp is entirely accessible as is his boat. Not to mention that Jessica, locally known as the duck whisperer, will probably have a new brood of ducklings to show off.
Mark your calendars and bring your sunscreen.
Also mark your calendars for Disability Advocacy Day on March 7th. Come and talk to legislators and tell them what is really important to you.
